Lab 1 - Installing Sun Identity Manager 8.0
Installing Sun Identity Manager requires installing and configuring the GlassFish application server, MySQL database, and NetBeans IDE. The student will install the entire Identity Manager environment and deploy Sun Identity Manager through the installed application server.
Lab 2 - Upgrading to Sun Identity Manager 8.0
From an installed Sun Java System Identity Manager 7.1 environment, the student will perform an upgrade to Sun Identity Manager 8.0.
Lab 3: Patching Identity Manager 8.0
From a previously installed Sun Identity 8.0 environment, the student will prepare the environment for, and apply the latest available patch.
Lab 4: Data Loading Practices and Reconciliation
An integral in configuring an Identity Manager environment is the management of resources and performing data loads of accounts into the environment. Students will create resources, including LDAP, Solaris, and simulated resources, and perform data loads from the different resource objects. The Active Sync process will be examined as part of the process for synchronizing these user accounts.
Lab 5: Implement a Delegated Administration Environment
In a delegated administrative environment, users are assigned specific administrative rights which allow them to perform specific tasks within Sun Identity Manager. Students will create account administrations for organizations, assign these accounts specific rights and capabilities, and modify the administration model they have created and implemented.
Lab 6: Using NetBeans IDE with Identity Manager
The Identity Manager plug-in for NetBeans IDE allows one to modify and create objects for the Identity Manager environment. Students will install the plug-in, create a version-controlled staging project, attach a debugger to their Identity Manager environment, and examine and modify objects available within the environment.
Lab 7 - Role Management
Students create roles, based on specific conditions, exceptions and the four different role types, and assign these roles to users defined within the Sun Identity Manager environment. After viewing the results both within the Sun Identity Manager administrative interface, the results are viewed directly from the repository database. Finally, an exercise to modify a role type is provided.
Lab 8 - Exporting Sun Identity Manager Data with Data Exporter
Configure Data Exporter by creating an external database, modifying the settings for Data Exporter within Sun Identity Manager, and scheduling an event. Results are then viewed and verified.
Lab 9 - Enabling Process Diagrams and Charts
Process diagrams are disabled by default in Sun Identity Manager. Modify the System Configuration configuration object within Sun Identity Manager and view the results of these changes within the administrative interface.
