The VMware Certified Professional Program is designed for
individuals who want to demonstrate their expertise in virtual
infrastructure and increase the potential for career advancement.
The high standards expected of a VCP means it's one of the most
sought after certifications in the industry.
Participation in a VMware authorized training class is
REQUIRED for VCP certification. Candidates who take the VCP exam
without a class will NOT be certified or confirmed by VMware.
Authorized courses are listed on the Education Services portal of
this website. If a class is NOT listed there it is not
authorized.

Certification News:
- VCP310 Exam Availability Extended!
The available of the VCP310 exam has been extended to March 31st,
2010. Please beware the upgrade requirements to become a VCP4 have
NOT changed. Please see the requirements below for more information
on becoming a VCP4.
- 2nd Shot Program Extended! Last day to enroll: January
15, 2010
For those interested in the 2nd Shot program, the latest you can
enroll will be January 15th, 2010 5pm Pacific Standard Time.

VMware is happy to announce that the VMware vSphere:
Troubleshooting [V4] course will meet the class attendance
requirements for those wishing to achieve VMware Certified
Professional on vSphere 4.
How to become a VMware Certified Professional on vSphere 4
(VCP4)
There are four possible paths to achieve
VCP4
- If you are NEW to VMware
- If you are currently a VCP3
- Take and pass the VCP4 exam. This option will only be available
until January 31, 2010. The What's New class is strongly
recommended. Beginning in 2010, VCP3s must attend the
VMware vSphere 4: What’s New [V4] two day instructor-led class
in order to upgrade.
- If you are currently a VCP2
- Take and pass the VCP on VMware Infrastructure 3 exam
- Take and pass the VCP4 Exam. This option will only be available
until January 31, 2010. Beginning in 2010, VCP3s must attend the
VMware vSphere: What’s New two day instructor-led class in order to
upgrade.
- Beginning in 2010, VCP2s who have not upgraded will be required
to attend the VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage; VMware
vSphere: Fast Track OR VMware vSphere: Troubleshooting course
- If you are not a VCP3, but have attended one of the
prerequisite classes (VI3: Install & Configure; VI3: Deploy
Secure & Analyze; or VI3: Fast Track).
- Take and pass the VCP3 exam OR attend the VMware vSphere4:
What’s New two day instructor-led course.
- Take and pass the VCP4 Exam.

How to become a VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX3)
There are four core validation components to achieve
VCDX:
- Must be certified as a VMware Certified Professional (VCP) on
VMware Infrastructure 3.
- Pass the VMware Enterprise Administration Exam. Includes live
labs and tests a higherlevel of skill set than the exam for VCP on
VMware Infrastructure 3.
- Pass the VMware Design Exam. This exam focuses on actual design
scenarios and contains simulations and situational questions.
- Submit, present and defend a successful VMware Infrastructure
design and implementation plan.
To get started, you must complete the Qualification
Skills Review.
